A Level

We follow the Edexcel specification at A level. This a contemporary, modular course with exams spread over the two years.

Examinations are as follows:

Field trip

In November of year 12 the students visit Norfolk as part of their preparation for the unit 2 exam. Whilst there is no coursework at A level, unit 2 is a fieldwork influenced examination. Therefore the trip is compulsory: the cost varies from year to year, but we expect it to be in the region of £170-200.

SUMMER HOLIDAY WORK FOR ALL STUDENTS STARTING AS GEOGRAPHY IN SEPTEMBER 2011

There are two tasks for you to complete over the summer holidays:

  1. Submit a summary of an article that you have read over the holidays, along with a URL for the story, to our website. You can do this by clicking on the Get Involved button in the menu. Your article must relate to one of the places or topic areas covered in the taster session. Your article summary will then be published on the Geography in the News page of the website for others students to read.
  2. Subscribe to this website – this will mean that you are kept up to date with all of the latest geography news
  3. Download, print and read the two documents below. You will need to bring them to the induction day in September to help you complete the task (you will need to be logged into the main school website to download these – external students can request a copy from ayresd@simonballe.herts.sch.uk).
A copy of the geography induction planner can be found here.
